One of the best forecast bets in sports betting, especially for fans of greyhound racing is the forecast doubles bet. Picking out one forecast is tough enough, but with greyhound race meetings having 10 or twelve races in the space of a few hours, makes the forecast double bet fun.
Picking out one forecast is tough enough, but with the forecast doubles bet, you’ll need at least two forecasts (a forecast double) to get a return.
The forecast doubles bet is a great bet for using small stakes, even as low as a penny.
On this page, we want to give you a simple run-through on “How To Place A Forecast Doubles Bet”.

HOW TO PLACE A FORECAST DOUBLES BET ON GREYHOUND RACING
The first step in placing a forecast doubles bet on any sport is to get yourself set up with an account on your favourite sportsbook. Signing up with one of the reputable and licenced betting brands like William Hill, Betfred, Bet365, Boylesports and others means you know your funds are secure. If you already have an account then you are good to go, so let’s dive in.
Once you have logged into your account and have funds on your account, then you are ready to start placing your forecast doubles bets and other sports wagers.
In the example below, we are using the Betfred website to show how to place a forecast doubles bet on dog racing.
Step 1. Find The Greyhounds Betting Markets
Go to the website at Betfred and select Greyhounds from the menu on the left-hand side. You will then be presented with a screen like the one below. This will show you the next five races, but we want to select “Today” which you see highlighted in green.

Step 2. Find Your Chosen Race Meeeting
Once you have clicked on “Today” it will open up the screen below where you will choose the meeting you wish to select your forecast doubles bet from. So we have chosen Perry Barr and clicked on the little down arrow next to “WATCH LIVE” to open all the races.

Step 3. Select Chosen Trap Numbers
Now we need to open each race and select the trap numbers we want. For this example, I will be using Trap 1 & Trap 2.

So in the above screen, we chose two races and you’ll see in our bet slip we can place either one straight forecast double bet or four reverse forecast doubles.
Straight Forecast Double – We have two races and we have selected Trap 1&2 in the 18.26 and Trap 1& 2 in the 18.41. For this bet to be successful we need trap 1&2 to be first and second in that order in both races.
Reverse Forecast Double – We have two races and we have selected Trap 1&2 in the 18.26 and Trap 1& 2 in the 18.41. For us to be successful, we need traps 1&2 to finish first and second in any order. So we have four doubles.
- Trap 1&2 in the 18.26 and Trap 1&2 in the 18.41
- Trap 1&2 in the 18.26 and Trap 2&1 in the 18.41
- Trap 2&1 in the 18.26 and Trap 1&2 in the 18.41
- Trap 2&1 in the 18.26 and Trap 2&1 in the 18.41
So that is how both a straight and reverse forecast double bet works.
CONCLUSION
So as you can see, it’s not too difficult to place a forecast doubles bet. We only used Betfred as an example because their interface on greyhound racing is easier to use, but many bookmakers will have similar forecast betting screens. Of course, forecast doubles are primarily used as a bet on greyhound racing.
Hopefully, the screenshots have helped you to understand how a forecast doubles bet works and we have made it nice and easy to understand. Also make sure to check out another of our helpful guide on “How To Place A Forecast Trebles Bet” if you are trying for a big potential win for penny stakes.
