Navigating the WIlliam Hill betslip website is extremely easy, thanks to the left-hand menu.

If you already know exactly which event you want to be on, you can hit the “Search” option from the left-hand menu. Type in the team name, or whatever it is that you wish to bet on, and choose the market this way.

Alternatively, you can browse events manually. Down the left-hand side of the page runs a list of different sports and betting categories. Use this to navigate to the appropriate area of the site.

Note that not all of these categories are sports, since it also includes Politics, TV and other specials. Esports has its own category here too.

Selecting the category only brings you to a homepage for that sport. This displays featured games, enhanced odds specials or other information that most WIlliam Hill customers will find useful.

If you want to drill down into a specific event that is not featured, you should select “Competitions” from the new left-hand menu. Once this page loads, you can easily choose your desired competition.

Build Your Betslip

Every event at William Hill has its own page displaying a wide range of odds.

Once you’ve found your chosen event, you can click on it to pull up a full list of betting opportunities. The most commonly played markets will be towards the top of the page, for your convenience.

Click the odds of the selection you wish to bet on, in order to add it to the bet slip. You’ll find this towards the bottom right-hand side of the page. It will be minimised to allow you to see as many odds on screen as possible. Simply click on it to make it appear.

Continue adding selections until you are ready to place your bet.

Strike the Bet

The WIlliam Hill betslip is intuitive and simple to use.

Once you are ready to finalise your bet, check your betslip to ensure that your selections are correct.

The betslip will be set to “Quick Bet” by default. This makes certain assumptions to speed up the betting process. For instance, if you added four selections to the slip, William Hill will assume that you want to place a fourfold.

If that is correct, you can simply enter your desired stake into the white box at the base of the betslip and hit the yellow “Place Bet” button.

If you wanted to do something else, select the “All Multiples” tab. This will allow you to more easily place combinations of bets, such as singles, doubles and trebles, all with different stakes. Hit the yellow “Place Bet” button when you are ready.

That’s it! Your bets are now placed. For reference, you can quickly view them from the “My Bets” tab at the bottom right-hand side of the page.

What Happens To Your William Hill Bet If A Match Is Abandoned?

When a match is abandoned, the bettors will more often than not get all of their money returned and it’s as if they never placed the bet. Most betting options are classed as void when a game is abandoned, as the result is not possible to determine with any certainty.

However, in those instances when the result of the bet can be determined before abandonment, this is not the case.

Matches Abandoned During Play

In some games abandoned after the start of play, certain betting outcomes will already have come to fruition. In these instances bets involving outcomes that are able to be fulfilled will stand.

Any of these winning bets will be paid as usual, and losing bets won’t be refunded. Other bets, such as full time score or second half scorer, will all be refunded, no matter how well either team was playing.

Notably, all games that are able to resume on the same day are not counted as abandoned. Bets on these games will stand as normal, as all outcomes will be determined when the game restarts and ends with the final whistle.

What Happens If You’ve Got An Abandoned Game On Your William Hill Accumulator?

When one of your accumulator bets is affected by a non-starting or abandoned game, the bet for that game will be void, as above, but all other selections of the bet will run on. Therefore making your double a single, your treble a double, and so on.

If the outcome of the abandoned game was determined during play before the game was abandoned, it’s counted toward your accumulator as normal. Only when an accumulator outcome is postponed or made dubious does that leg of the acca get refunded.

As an example, imagine the following scenario:

  • A £10 stake on a four fold accumulator was placed on four different matches all playing on Saturday.

Two at 12:30 and two at 15:00 with odds at 8.00.
  • The 12:30 fixtures play through as normal and the bettor gets both of these results right.
  • Then a blizzard rolls over both pitches for the other two fixtures covering them with snow, and the games are called off having both played 70 minutes.
  • In this instance, the four fold accumulator will be half refunded and half honoured.
  • The two early fixtures played out and won, so the four fold accumulator will now just be a two fold accumulator (also known as a double).
  • The accumulator will be counted as a £5 stake double at for example 4.00 odds.
  • The other two fixtures will be refunded £5.
  • In this instance the bettor will claim £25 back from their £10 stake.

A £20 return on their double, and a £5 refund on their abandoned games.

Why Matches Get Abandoned

There are lots of reasons that a match can get postponed or abandoned.

  1. Player trauma, such as a player collapsing on the pitch.
  2. Crowd safety is another consideration that causes matches to be abandoned. Acts of terrorism are a real problem and any kind of suspicious package can be a bomb threat.
  3. The crowd can also be a danger to itself and others. Especially in South America, it is not that uncommon for masses of pitch invaders to get a game abandoned.
  4. The floodlights stop working.
  5. Safety of those travelling to the game is also taken into account. Matches are sometimes abandoned due to road conditions
  6. Other technical or weather related issues, such as fog, causing the players to not see well.
  7. Any kind of unplayable pitch. This can be due to heavy rain or snow making it waterlogged or icy.

How To Cancel A Bet On William Hill

There are generally two ways that you can cancel a bet. The first way is via the cash in feature.

On many selections that are made before the start of the event, there will be a cash in button that you can select to redeem the full cash amount of your stake before the bet. This method is not sure-fire, as odds can change negatively before you’re able to cash in.

If they do, you can try the second method, which is a polite email request to the customer service team with a good reason why you want to cancel the bet. They aren’t obliged to help, but sometimes they will be able to cancel the bet for you.

When Can You Cancel A William Hill Bet?

The main reasons for cancelling a bet is due to a bettor’s mistake, such as entering the wrong stake or wrong selection without noticing or by accident.

Other than this, there is little that can be done and the final confirmation of the bet slip is the last word.
