The Masters – Bookmaker Sign Up Offers and Bonuses
Amen….Amen. Well, that’s what most of the players will be saying on Sunday after they have gone through Amen’s Corner and one of the most treacherous stretches in major golf.
It’s Spring and that time of year again when Augusta National comes to life with pristine greens and fairways bordered by those beautiful azaleas.
But who will be the victor in 2022 and slip on the famous green jacket come Sunday 10th April?
Below you can see The Masters best odds and sign up offers being offered by the bookmakers for The Masters
Can Matsuyama do it again?
Last year’s winner Hideki Matsuyama will be back to defend his crown along with 2020 record-breaker Dustin Johnson who shot -20 to win in 2020.
Golf is a game of stories, triumphs, disasters, and comebacks from the dead. On the latter statement, we might nearly have that. Tiger Woods who won the event in 2019 is as we write on the 1st of April (no it’s not an April Fools Joke) apparently close to Augusta and may yet take his place. After a horrific car accident, Woods has done well to be able to walk again so if he turned out at this year’s Masters we’d all love to see that famous red shirt walking down the last on Masters Sunday.
Form is temporary, class is permanent
Let’s take a look at some recent stats and see who is in form heading into the first major of the season.
Top 10 Finishes – PGA Tour
Below you can see the top five players on the PGA Tour in relation to the most Top 10 finishes this season.
Scottie Scheffler 6
Sam Burns 5
Collin Morikawa 5
Justin Thomas 5
Patrick Cantlay 4
Scottie Scheffler leads the way in Top 10’s on the tour and is currently ranked No 1 in the Fedex Cup rankings. It is no coincidence as all of his three tour victories have come in the last year and he looks a solid option for punters. His odds are around the 16/1 mark so he looks excellent EW value.
Top 10 Finishes – DP World Tour
Formerly known as the European Tour the DP World Tour is in its second season and with only a handful of events played it is better to look at the top players from 2021
Jon Rahm 6
Collin Morikawa 5
Billy Horschel 3
Matt Fitzpatrick 3
Tyrrell Hatton 3
Jon Rahm led the way with 6 top ten finishes, however, it is important to note that Collin Morikawa finished top of the rankings due to tournaments won. For Morikawa to finish in the Top 5 on both tours goes to show what an influential player he has become over the last three years and his current odds of 14/1 put him right up there as one of the favourites.
Drive for show, putt for dough
The old golf term could not be more important in today’s game. Technology advances have made long drives of over 300 yards the norm in tournament golf and it may well come down to approach play and putting stats on the slick Augusta greens.
Top 5 Drivers – PGA Tour
The figures below are for the full year of the 2021 season.
| Player | number of rounds | average driving distance (YARDS) |
|---|---|---|
| Bryson DeChambeau | 83 | 323.7 |
| Rory McIlroy | 77 | 319.3 |
| Cameron Champ | 79 | 317.1 |
| Matthew Wolff | 60 | 315.9 |
| Will Gordon | 92 | 315.0 |
Two big names are at the top of this stats chart, but in the third spot, we find the little-known Cameron Champ. Champ has carried this long driving form into the 2022 season and currently sits top of this year’s stats with an average “boom off the tee” of 320 yards. Matthew Wolff who was fourth last year is currently third this year with an average of 317.3 yards off the tee.
Champ is currently priced up at 125/1 while Wolff is an even bigger price at 150/1.
As we said, it’s “Drive for show, putt for dough” so how do these two big hitters rate in terms of accuracy. It’s OK having the distance, but without accuracy, they are going to struggle.
Champ is rated 202 with an average of 50.49% with Wolff just a little better at 191 and 52.33%. So both are near the bottom of the pile on accuracy.
Top 5 Drivers – DP World Tour
The figures below are for the full year of the 2021 season.
| player | number of rounds | average driving distance (yards) |
|---|---|---|
| Wilco Neinaber | 48 | 321.44 |
| Dean Burmester | 78 | 318.20 |
| Ryan Fox | 67 | 318.04 |
| Nicolai Hojgaard | 74 | 314.83 |
| Nicolas Colsaerts | 43 | 313.36 |
None of the above five players is in The Masters field although they still had a chance to qualify from The Valero Texas Open taking place through to April 3rd.
If we switch from driving distance to driving accuracy then we have the same story as above.
Looking at potential players from the DP World Tour who could be of interest then Viktor Hovland who sits 8th in terms of average scoring but second in terms of the average number of birdies looks like one of the Europeans who could go well, and at odds of 20/1 could be interesting with some bookmakers paying as many as 11places for each-way punters.
Down the stretch
We’ve looked at the driving distance and driving accuracy but let’s look at the players with the form and stats to potentially win, the players who have solid approach play from the fairways and are good with the short stick (the putter) when on the dance surface (putting green)
Scottie Scheffler – Odds 16/1
Scheffler sets a really good standard. As well as a decent game off the tee his numbers once in the fairway are very impressive.
Scoring Average 69.87
Greens in Regulation 71.56%
Birdie Average 4.9
Collin Morikawa – Odds 16/1
Morikawa is one of the most improved players in the world over the last couple of seasons and as well as a very solid 66.78% in driving accuracy he can boast a good set of stats.
Scoring Average is 70.02
Greens in Regulation 72.22%
Birdie Average 4.77
Will Zalatoris – Odds 33/1
Will Zalatoris might fly under the radar from a betting perspective. Not such a well-known golfer and his driving stats are not what is expected of a major winner. However he still hits a lot of greens in regulation and if able to have a good week off the tee, he could surprise at a big price.
Scoring Average is 70.43
Greens in Regulation 72.07%
Birdie Average 4.14
Cameron Smith – Odds 14/1
Australian Cameron Smith has been absolutely on fire with the putter as you can see below from his birdie average per round. Smith won The Players Championship, and his putting could be a lethal weapon come Sunday and he is currently No 1 on the scoring average charts.
Scoring Average is 69.27
Greens in Regulation 72.07%
Birdie Average 5.58
Justin Thomas – Odds 14/1
Thomas is in fine form as he tops the leaderboard for par/sub-par with his last 16 rounds all being par or better and of course that means he is consistently making the cut, something punters should take into consideration.
Scoring Average is 69.61
Greens in Regulation 72.40%
Birdie Average 5.22
Thomas and Zalatoris are both relatively poor off the tee but if either gets the big dog working well then they could well be very tough to beat. That is a big IF though.
From a form perspective then Cameron Smith looks the one to be with as the stats clearly show and he looks sure to be a Top 10 contender come the final round on Sunday.
To get the best value then look for a bookmaker paying more than the standard 6 places.

The Old Timers
A number of stars from days gone by are invited to The Masters each year and in 2022, we’ll see the likes of Fred Couples, Ian Woosnam, Sandy Lyle, Vijay Singh, Mike Weir, and Bernhard Langer hopefully taking part.
All of these legends of the game will give it a good go but none are unlikely to be there come Sunday evening.
Fred Couples – Odds 1000/1
However, it could be worth looking at Fred Couples to make the cut. He has missed out the last two years shooting 77 and 78 on the first day but then bouncing back and shooting 73 and 71 on day two of those events. Couples has been performing very well on the senior’s tour and it is known that he has a love and great strategy for playing Augusta National.
Bernhard Langer – Odds 1000/1
The other to take into account is the German Bernhard Langer, another player enjoying a golden sunset on the senior’s tour but who finished a highly respectable 29th at last year’s Masters and he could be an interesting bet in the “first-round leader” market having shot a 68 on the first day in 2021.
With huge prices available on some of the old-timers then make sure to take advantage of the best place terms like those offered by Betfair
Whoever wins, it looks like it is going to be a great tournament with the crowds sure to be lifting the players on what will be a fantastic first major of 2022.
The Masters Tournament Par-3 contest
The par 3 contest takes place the day before the main event and is an informal yet competitive precursor to the main event.
It is interesting that since the event started in 1960, no winner of the par 3 contest has gone on to win the Masters proper.
However could that change in 2022? This years contest saw joint winners in Mike Weir and Mackenzie Hughes who are priced up at 1500/1 and 250/1 respectively to win the masters. Check out all the latest odds by the Bet365 US Masters team
Many players think it is a hoodoo, and so it has proved.
The contest participants usually invite family members to caddie for them, sometimes allowing them to play one or two shots.
The course record (9 holes) is held by Jimmy Walker who shot an astounding course record of 19 (–8), set in 2016, which included a hole in one.
