Each Way Extra allows you to add extra places to the race. So, if you want to bet on a race but feel as if you need four places, then all you need to do is select the horse you want to bet on from the Each Way Extra market and make sure you take the odds from the ‘4 Places’ column.

As the image below shows, you can find the each way extra market next to the main racecard.

So, let’s say you back a 4/1 winner in a feature race, and let’s say that you stake £20. Not only will you receive a £100 in winnings, but you’ll be able to place another £20 bet on the next feature race and if that bet loses, you’ll receive a refund.

Better still, if you win on the next feature race (at odds of 4/1 or greater), you’ll get a risk-free bet for the next feature race.

Big Horse Racing Events at bet365

It is the case in any sport, there are notable dates in the horse racing calendar, with some big meetings taking place annually.

bet365 usually offer something extra in terms of both betting options and promotions for the following events:

Bet365 Cheltenham Festival

Depending on whether you prefer jumps or flat racing, the Cheltenham Festival is arguably the biggest race meeting in the UK.

As such a huge horse racing event, there’s lots of extra betting available at bet365. There will be extra places on several races, with up to six, seven and even eight places paid in some of the big handicap races.

During Cheltenham week, there’s also lots of price boosts and special promotions, plus lots of extra markets. Punters can bet on which jockey will ride the most winners at the meeting, who will train the most winners, as well as whether the most winners will come from Britain or Ireland.

How Many Places Do Bet365 Pay On The Cheltenham Festival?

As touched on above, extra places are commonplace when it comes to big races. On something like the Grand National, bet365 could pay up to EIGHT places, while punters can get more than the customary three or four on many of the big handicap races at both the Cheltenham Festival and Royal Ascot

At such meetings, big handicap races typically have 20+ runners, so it’s perfectly normal to see bet365 offer five or six places to each-way punters.

Bet365 Grand National

The Aintree Festival is another huge meeting in the jumps racing calendar. The Grand National is the flagship race at Aintree and is arguably the single most popular horse race in the entire racing calendar. It’s certainly the most popular race amongst casual and occasional punters.

How Many Places Do Bet365 Pay On The Grand National?

Around Grand National time, there are lots of offers available at bet365, while there are many extra places paid too. It’s not uncommon for bet365 to pay up to EIGHT places on the Grand National

Bet365 Royal Ascot

When it comes to flat racing, Royal Ascot is king. Over five days, the best flat horses in the land descend on the Berkshire track, and the racing is of the highest quality.

At bet365, there are plenty of promos and offers flying about too. For example, at the previous Royal Ascot, new players could get a £5 free bet. All they had to do was sign up and choose any horse running at Royal Ascot.

Bet365 Horse Racing Explained – The Basics

First and foremost, punters can bet on every UK and Irish race at bet365, who guarantee their players the best odds. What does this mean? Well, if you place a bet on a horse at 3/1 ten minutes before the race starts, but the horse drifts in the betting and wins at 4/1, you will be paid out at the bigger price.

In addition to providing odds for every race in the United Kingdom and Ireland, whether it’s over the jumps, on the flat, or on the all-weather, bet365 also has great coverage of international racing.

In terms of options when it comes to horse racing around the globe, bet365 is pretty much at the top of the pile, as there’s very little not covered. 365 players can bet on racing from Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, USA, Germany, France, Dubai and South Africa.

As the image below shows, there is plenty of international horse racing for punters to get stuck into.

Bet365 Horse Racing Explained: Places, Offers, Cheltenham & More -

There is of course live streaming too, which is available for every UK & Irish race, while some international action can also be live streamed. The best part is you don’t even need to place a bet on the race to watch it. To access the streaming, players simply need to have money in their account or need to have placed a bet at some point in the last 24 hours.

Bet365 Horse Racing Rules

There are certain rules attached to bet365’s horse racing product. These are as follows:

Postponed Races

Sometimes, horse races are postponed or rescheduled. There are various reasons for this, but the main one is poor weather conditions. Should a race that you’ve bet on be rescheduled, whether it be for later the same day or at a later date.

In contrast, any bet you have placed on a race will be voided if the race is abandoned, if it is officially declared void, if the venue changes, or if the running surface changes.

Each Way Betting

An each-way bet consists of two parts. One part is for the horse to win and the other is for the horse to fill one of the places, the number of which depends on the number of runners.

These are the place terms at bet365:

  • A race with 16 or more runners will pay a quarter of the odds for the first four places.
  • Races that have 12 to 15 runners will pay a quarter of the odds for the first three places.
  • Races containing eight or more runners will pay one fifth of the odds for the first three places.
  • Races involving five, six or seven runners, the places’ terms state that it will be one quarter of the odds for the first three places.
  • If there are less than five runners, the place part of the bet is invested in the horse to win.

Dead-Heats

In horse racing, a dead-heat is when two horses finish exactly level and cannot be separated. This essentially means that they share the win.

What does this mean in a betting sense? Well, if your horse dead-heats, you will lose half of your stake money. The other half goes down as a win at full odds.

Rule 4’s

Once declarations for race have been made and the market has formed, any horses that withdraw before the race begins mean that all bets on the race will be subject to deductions, known as Rule 4 deductions.

Horses that are withdrawn at odds of between 10/1 and 14/1 usually result in a 5p deduction for every £1 of winnings.

If two or more horses are withdrawn before the race begins, the deduction can be more, but will not exceed 90p for every £1 of winnings.

This is the full break down of deductions (for every £1 of winnings) for horses being withdrawn depending on the odds:

  • 1/9 or shorter = £0.90 deduction
  • 2/11 to 2/17 =  £0.85 deduction
  • 1/4 to 1/5 = £0.80 deduction
  • 3/10 to 2/7 = £0.75 deduction
  • 2/5 to 1/3 = £0.70 deduction
  • 8/15 to 4/9 = £0.65 deduction
  • 8/13 to 4/7 = £0.60 deduction
  • 4/5 to 4/6 = £0.55 deduction
  • 20/21 to 5/6 = £0.50 deduction
  • EVS to 6/5 = £0.45 deduction
  • 5/4 to 6/4 = £0.40 deduction
  • 8/5 to 7/4 = £0.35 deduction
  • 9/5 to 9/4 = £0.30 deduction
  • 12/5 to 3/1 = £0.25 deduction
  • 16/5 to 4/1 = £0.20 deduction
  • 9/2 to 11/2 = £0.15 deduction
  • 6/1 to 9/1 = £0.10 deduction
  • 10/1 to 14/1 = £0.05 deduction
  • over 14/1 = no deduction

ReRuns

Occasionally, something known as a ReRun takes place. After a false start, horses come under starter’s orders again, which is known as a ReRun. If the horse you have bet on does not take part in the ReRun, you will receive your stake back as a refund. If this happens to a horse you have not bet on, and then your horse wins, your winnings will be subject to a Rule 4 deduction.

Winning Distances

If you bet on a horse to win by a certain distance, the winning distance will be determined by the official distance as stated at the weigh-in.

For example, let’s say you bet on a horse to win by two lengths or more. You watch the race, and feel that the horse wins by two lengths, but the official winning distance goes down as one and three quarter lengths. In this case, your bet will go down as losing one. All winning distance bets are settled in accordance with the official winning distance.
