How to verify Your Betfair account
Getting your account verified is a fairly simple process. Betfair will first attempt to verify you electronically. This is done via your online fingerprint, it could be using your bank card or the bank account that you register when you open your account.
If they can’t do it electronically, you will be asked to upload documents to verify yourself.
You will need to verify the following:
Personal Identification
To prove personal identification you will need a clear photo of one of the following:-
- Passport
- Driving License
- National ID Card (depending on your country)
Address Identification
You will also need identification and verification of where you live. One of the following documents will be acceptable:-
- Bank Statement
- Utility Bill
Whether you use the bank statement or the utility bill (gas or broadband, etc), it will need to be less than 6 months old. You will need to download it in PDF format.
Now you’ve done that, you will have two options to send these details to Betfair. You can either use the Get in touch button (show below) on their Help page. Or you can upload your documents through your ‘my account’ section.
Assuming you’ve already signed up and funded your account, below are the step by step instructions on how to upload your documents to verify your Betfair account:-
- Go to the My Account section
- Click on My Details
- Now click on Verification
- Upload Document and Image
Getting verified can also be referred to as KYC. The abbreviation stands for Know Your Customer.
Know Your Customer (KYC) is a pretty standard format now across anything that involves finance. So you will need to complete it with all bookmakers, and trading platforms, etc.
If a bookmaker doesn’t require you to complete the KYC process, it might be better and safer to avoid that particular establishment. As the chances are they won’t be playing by the rules!
