Scottie Scheffler leads the way in Top 10’s on the tour and is currently ranked No 1 in the Fedex Cup rankings. It is no coincidence as all of his three tour victories have come in the last year and he looks a solid option for punters. His odds are around the 16/1 mark so he looks excellent EW value.

The old golf term could not be more important in today’s game. Technology advances have made long drives of over 300 yards the norm in tournament golf and it may well come down to approach play and putting stats on the slick Augusta greens.

Two big names are at the top of this stats chart, but in the third spot, we find the little-known Cameron Champ. Champ has carried this long driving form into the 2022 season and currently sits top of this year’s stats with an average “boom off the tee” of 320 yards. Matthew Wolff who was fourth last year is currently third this year with an average of 317.3 yards off the tee.
Champ is currently priced up at 125/1 while Wolff is an even bigger price at 150/1.
As we said, it’s “Drive for show, putt for dough” so how do these two big hitters rate in terms of accuracy. It’s OK having the distance, but without accuracy, they are going to struggle.
Champ is rated 202 with an average of 50.49% with Wolff just a little better at 191 and 52.33%. So both are near the bottom of the pile on accuracy.

Looking at potential players from the DP World Tour who could be of interest then Viktor Hovland who sits 8th in terms of average scoring but second in terms of the average number of birdies looks like one of the Europeans who could go well, and at odds of 20/1 could be interesting with some bookmakers paying as many as 11places for each-way punters.

Thomas and Zalatoris are both relatively poor off the tee but if either gets the big dog working well then they could well be very tough to beat. That is a big IF though.
